BIA Healthy Ageing Assessment

Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis or Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a method of assessing your body’s composition. This scientific test measures body fat in relation to lean body mass and is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment. It provides us with in-depth insight into different aspects of your health such as how much fat and muscle that you have in your body. The information provided by BIA can then be used to help monitor your cellular health and energy levels.

BIA breaks down your body’s overall health by measuring areas such as:

• % of total body fat in the body
• % of segmental body fat of each arm, leg and the trunk localising specifically where you are carrying fat
• % of total body water which gauges the your overall and cellular hydration levels which are linked to organ function
• Your metabolic age which is how your body ages compared to your physical age by going beyond external appearances
• % of visceral fat which is the measurement of fat surrounding your organs. This can help indicate predispositions to cardiovascular risks, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and other chronic illnesses
• Bone mass testing also provides detailed insights into your bone health

Iridology

Iridology is the study and therapeutic analysis of iris fiber patterns and colors.

How does Iridology work?

Our Iris brings images from the outside world to us and is capable of showing images of what is going on within our body.  The iris can be likened to a miniature recording screen that can gauge the status of our health. Nerve pathways from all over the body are continually sending information to the brain via the part of the brain known as the thalamus and the hypothalamus. These two parts of the brain monitor all of the vital activities going on within the body.

The irides are attached to blood vessels and thousands of nerve endings that originates from the thalamus and the hypothalamus. From nerve impulses that are relayed from the Thalamus and the Hypothalamus physiological changes develop in the iris tissue revealing information from all parts of the body that have nerve supply. When you have an area in your body that is unbalanced, the nerve endings pulls back in that area leaving the markings on the corresponding area of the iris which is how we locate the origins of health problems.

What to expect from an Iridology consultation?

In our clinic we incorporate Iridology as part of our comprehensive naturopathic consultation. We use a magnified iris scope with attached lights. We will observe the color of the iris, pattern of the iris fibers special markings, signs, the size of the pupil etc. It can reveal your genetic predispositions, your weaknesses and strengths both physically and emotionally. Signs in the iris may also show areas within the body that are underactive, over active, inflamed or degenerative. This can suggest an area of dysfunction that requires assistance.

For example, there may be signs in the iris that the kidneys are a weaker organ in comparison to the rest of the organs. There may also be signs showing darkening over the bowel area indicating weakness in removing metabolic waste efficiently, this could further compromise the functioning of the kidneys. Therefore the organ manifesting the condition may be the Kidneys; however the bowel needs to be address to treat the underlying cause so it prevents from reoccurring.

Upon your Iris examination we will discuss with you our observations of your iris and recommend an appropriate herbal, nutritional, specific diet and lifestyle treatment plan to restore your health.

Mood, Stress and Anxiety Screening Assessment

This assessment will help me to formulate an effective prescription for your clinical presentation of symptoms related to mood, stress, anxiety and depression. We will also use it as a monitoring tool to measure the improvement of your symptoms and to identify changes in treatment priorities as they occur.
